The Hollywood Hills refers to a number of distinct neighborhoods which can
be described as rustic to modern. From the exclusive Doheny Estates on the
west end of the hills to the old Hollywood charm (and home of the Hollywood
sign) of Beachwood Canyon on the east, all the areas offer their own lifestyle
and unique real estate from which to choose.
The most famous part of the Hollywood Hills is the area above the Sunset
Strip, homes of the rich and famous. Hollywood Hills above the Sunset Strip
is home to the highest concentration of celebrities in Los Angeles, where
high-profile residents enjoy privacy along with the best views attainable
in Los Angeles. Homes in this neighborhood with a unique "90069"
West Hollywood zip code (while actually being located within the city of
Los Angeles), are typically $1,000 - $1,500/per square foot, making it the
most expensive cost-per-square-foot average in all of Los Angeles, exceeding
Beverly Hills and Bel Air.
Laurel Canyon is where you'll find a collection of eclectic tastes and classic
architecture born in the mid-century. This glamorous canyon is home to musicians,
artists, and people who enjoy the surreal charm of the neighborhood. Minutes
from the Sunset Strip, Hollywood, Or Studio City, Laurel Canyon provides
an ideal location.
Outpost Estates is home to some of the most well kept original Hollywood
Mediterranean estates from the 1920's. This neighborhood is often dubbed
as "old hollywood" for its pristine glamorous 1920's estates.
The homes average $1M-$3M and are about 2,000 square feet or larger, many
with pools and tennis courts, many retaining their original detail work
and craftsmanship.
Nichols Canyon continues north of Hollywood Blvd from Genesee and provides
a variety of stunning exclusive homes in the $1M- $6M range. You'll also
find a creek whose source is from a natural waterfall and runs southbound
along the west side of Nichols Canyon Blvd., offering a natural scenic water
feature in the backyards of a handful of residents. Runyan Canyon is a local
favorite for hikes and the breathtaking views.
The Hollywood Hills form the north barrier of the Los Angeles Basin. There
has been extensive residential development in the Hollywood Hills since
the 1920s. The area includes Mulholland Drive, Beachwood Canyon, Laurel
Canyon, Nichols Canyon and Mount Olympus.
Traditionally, the designation "Hollywood Hills" comprised the
hill neighborhoods north of West Hollywood and Hollywood proper and excluding
the more westerly neighborhoods.
